We want to create the best resource in the UK for pitmasters, whether you are a beginner or expert we are creating SmokeGuys to improve your grilling and food smoking.
The site is mainly run by Adam who has been a keen amateur cook all his life but has gradually moved towards the dark side, smoking up meat.
The site was originally launched back in 2015 but has been quiet, that is until 2021/2022 where we are on a mission to publish the most incredible guides, recipes and resources.
SmokeGuys is full of informational content as well as buyer guides as we know that it can be difficult to make a decision on what to buy when there are so many options out there. This is from your first smoker through to kitchen accessories.
I’m Adam, a cook with no professional cooking experience, I was someone who either had to learn how to cook, or accept the fact that I was getting a classic brit meal of oven chips and some form of meat cooked in the oven at 200 for an unspecified amount of time.
The lure of American BBQ has always pulled me in, I think it’s the fact that good BBQ food is so difficult to get here in the UK, that it was something I craved more than anything else.
Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love a variety of different types of food, BBQ is certainly number 1, but in close second Thai.
I started off with a Weber Mastertouch, kept it nice and simple, however, my first try of pork belly bites, didn’t start off well, when I ended up using the completely wrong temperature to start with, letting it drop too low and just making every mistake possible in the book. They came out as close to rock as you could possibly get before it takes on a new form...
It may seem simple to some, it may come naturally to others, however mastering the art of smoking isn’t as simple as it may seem, there are so many unanswered questions, especially in the UK where things are a little bit different to our American friends.
What temperature should specific cuts of meat be cooked at? What type of charcoal should I use? What’s the best smoker to get started with? The list of questions goes on and on, which is why I created SmokeGuys!
