How to make Meatheads famous Mephis BBQ rub in the UK

    If you're looking for an all-purpose BBQ rub, and fancy trying something from across the US, this bbq rub from Meathead from has to be one of your go to's.

    You can get plenty of rubs online, places like Amazon have a huge number of rubs, however, it's pretty simple to create your own at home from spices you probably already have. This homemade Memphis BBQ dry rub will make the meat shine and give it a great smokey taste

    It's pretty simple to create your own at home from spices you probably already have.

    The first thing you need to do is decide on which recipe you want, more sweet or spicy? Or somewhere in between? Think about how many people are going to be eating this recipe and what kind of meat it'll be served with.

    This is how I made my Memphis dry rub, with plenty of spice for myself but less heat than Meathead's version if others were going to eat it - so adjust seasoning levels yourself.

    Keep in mind that unless specified otherwise, any of these recipes can be used as a wet rub by simply mixing it with water, oil or another binder.

    To make the rub you will need:

    • ▢¾ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
    • ▢¾ cup white sugar
    • ▢½ cup American paprika
    • ▢¼ cup garlic powder
    • ▢2 tablespoons ground black pepper
    • ▢2 tablespoons ground ginger powder
    • ▢2 tablespoons onion powder
    • ▢2 teaspoons rosemary powder

    The Memphis dry rub is a simple blend of spices and sugars that will turn your food into something amazing.
